G-SHOCK 40TH ANNIVERSARY MODEL

RECRYSTALLIZED SERIES

Introducing G-SHOCK 40th anniversary watches based on the very first G-SHOCK,
now made with stainless steel recrystallisation and deep-layer hardening processes

Precisely 40 years since the April 1983 debut of the G-SHOCK,
this trio of new timepieces celebrates the four-decade mark by presenting an exciting new take on the very first G-SHOCK using innovative materials and finishes.
Combine stainless steel recrystallisation and deep-layer hardening technologies for the first time in a G-SHOCK,
the inventive designs of these watches deliver unparalleled toughness and beauty.

Original design benefits from strengthening techniques: Stainless steel recrystallisation and deep-layer hardening

The use of stainless steel recrystallisation and deep-layer hardening processes makes for an exterior design with a remarkably original look of radiance. Additional applications of ion plating (IP), titanium carbide (TiC), and other coatings deliver beautiful colouration.

*The stainless steel is processed into components and then recrystallised, yielding unique differences in crystalline grain. This makes the pattern, colour tone, and lustre differ subtly from part to part.

Deep-layer hardening process (stainless steel)
This technology creates a hard layer by infusing carbon into the surface of the steel. Unlike coatings, the process delivers enhanced strength by hardening the material itself.

DW5040PG-1D

Paying homage to the very first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, this model features recrystallisation and deep-layer hardening processes applied to the screw-lock case back, buckle, and band loop. Black IP is then applied to the case back, and gold-coloured IP to the buckle and band loop. In addition, the bezel and band are made with bio-based resins to help reduce environmental impact. The words ‘PROJECT TEAM “Tough”’ adorn the dial. The screw-lock case back is engraved with the anniversary logo, while the band loop features four stars to commemorate the four decades of G-SHOCK. Another star is engraved on the Mode button on the lower left side of the case.

**Due to the screw-lock construction of the case back, the orientation of the logo and lettering on it may not match up perfectly with the dial.

PROJECT TEAM “Tough”
This is the name of the team that worked with IBE Kikuo, the father of G-SHOCK, to develop the very first DW-5000C model. In 1983, the team brought IBE’s vision of constructing “a durable watch that would not break even if dropped” to fruition with a tough watch featuring an unparalleled shock-resistant structure. To commemorate the completion of that very first G-SHOCK, a special model inscribed with the team’s name was distributed only to the eight team members.

Truth to origin and constant innovation: Full metal shock-resistant structure

Buffering components made of fine resin are installed between the stainless-steel bezel and case. With its metal exterior in the original form of the very first G-SHOCK, the watch makes the most of its shock-resistant structure.
